Do we recognize God? Do we listen to God? In Mark 1:21-28 even the unclean spirit knew Jesus was God and obeyed Him. How much more should we be open to God's quiet whisperings in our lives. The Lord told Moses that He would send a prophet for the people and that there would be consequences for not listening! Let us strive to put God first and listen to God's holy prophets today and always.
In Exodus 20:1-17 God gives us rules to live by (the Ten Commandments). We are instructed on how to show our love for God & neighbot. As we move into the middle of Lent let us reflect on how faithfully we live these commands and strive to better out spiritual lives in whatever small way we can. God asks us to draw closer each day, not all at once. If we work to take tiny steps every day, at the end of our lives we will see the tremendous journey we accomplished.
In Mark 6:30-33 Jesus is taking his disciples away, to a deserted place, in order to rest. The people find out about it, and are so anxious to be near Jesus, they follow Him and arrive ahead of Him. Instead of being angry, Jesus realizes the needs of the people and abandons His plan for rest in order to teach them. Let us watch for opportunities to be like Jesus and abandon our plans to help all in our paths who long to receive, know and experience the presence of God.
