1. Admit that you are powerless over sin-that your life has become unmanageable.
2. Come to believe in a POWER greater than your self which can restore you to wholeness.
3. Make a decision and turn your will over to God and allow Him to guide you.
4. Examine your conscience (Make a searing and fearless moral inventory of your life, your actions, your decisions, your motivations, etc.)
5. Confess your sins to God through the Sacrament of Reconciliation.
6. Allow the forgiveness of God to flood your mind and your soul. Surrender all sense of guilt, frustration, anger, disillusion to God and let him remove them from your life.
7. Humbly ask God to remove your shortcomings and strengthen your revole to do good.
8. Make a list of all those who were harmed by your sinful actions, attitudes, or behavior. Be willing to make amends to them all.
9. Make direct amends to such people where possible. Seek forgiveness from others for the wrongs you have done.
10. Continue to take personal inventory and when tempted, promptly admit it and ask for strength from above.
11. Through prayer, meditation, and contemplation, raise your consciousness of God's presence in your life. Ask Him to fill you with knowledge of His Will for your life and the strength to persevere in doing good and avoiding evil.
12. Having had a spiritual awakening as a result of these steps, carry this message, this Good News, to others and practice these principles in all your affairs.
